Ayden Mackenzie Invested as Chief Commissioner of Scouts WA

Thursday the 9th of July was an exciting day for Scouts WA when long-standing member Ayden Mackenzie was invested as Chief Commissioner of Scouts WA. Ayden was presented with a Certificate of Appointment at Government House by His Excellency The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia and Chief Scout of Scouts WA.

 

 

Scouts WA President and former Governor of Western Australia Dr Ken Michael AC KStJ attended to witness the event, along with DCC Training Support Tahlia Batters and DCC Youth Support Isaac Wetherley. Ayden’s parents Mark and Deb Mackenzie also attended the event.

Ayden joined Scouts in 1994 as a Venturer Scout and is a Queen’s Scout awardee. In early 2014, Ayden was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief Commissioner, Youth Program and was WA’s representative on the National Youth Program Team and the Youth Program Review. During Ayden’s time as the Deputy Chief Commissioner he was responsible for the implementation of the new Youth Program in Western Australia. In recognition of an outstanding contribution to Rovering, Ayden received the National Rover Service Award in 2010. He was awarded the Silver Koala in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding service to Scouting and the Black Swan Award. Ayden is also been a member of the Scouts WA Board, first appointed in 2010.

Ayden is the youngest ever Chief Commissioner of Scouts WA.

Scouts WA are extremely excited to have Ayden on board and congratulate him on his appointment as the 21st Chief Commissioner of Scouts WA.
