Scouts WA Venturers Cape to Cape October 2022

Four Darlington Venturers tackle the Cape to Cape

Scouts-wa-venturers

In the October holidays, four Venturers, aged 15 and 16 hiked 61km over 4 days and nights, to complete the southern section of the famous Cape to Cape track, travelling south from Redgate to Cape Leeuwin.

Carrying all their supplies, Venturers Brandon, Marc and Jasper were led by Jakob, who planned the hike as part of his Queen’s Scout Award. There were beautiful sunsets, some challenging teaming rain, stories and camaraderie, and a very well deserved fish and chips dinner in Augusta at the end.

Congratulations to Jakob for organising and leading the group on the hike.

Queens Scout Award

queen-scout-award-scouts-waFor the Venturer who is up for an extra challenge, the Queen’s Scout Award is the highest award in the Venturer Scout section and carries an outstanding reputation within Scouting and the Community.

To gain the Queen’s Scout Award the Venturer must first reach Venturer Award standard in all 13 Venturer Award activities. They must then reach Queen’s Scout Award standard in an activity area from each of Leadership Development, Outdoors Activities, Personal Growth and Community Involvement.
