Low Food KM's

Quality produce, grown sustainably, ripened naturally, with low food miles, sold in season and often grown with no or minimal pesticides! Our local produce picked within 24-48 hours of your purchase. This freshness not only affects the taste of your food, but the nutritional value too.

Tastier & Fresher

Picked for flavour and not storage, the quality of local produce is also cheaper because you’re cutting out the middleman, and there’s a great sense of community participation. You’ll also experience a greater range of flavours and foods.

Support Local Farmers

Buying direct supports WA farmers, growers and producers, protecting our local food sources. We learn to eat with the seasons and can access interesting varieties of fruits, vegetables, and other products that are not always stocked in supermarkets.

Support Local Economy

The economic role of local food systems and supplies is important to local economies and communities and there are several social and community benefits from supporting local food production and buying from local farmers.

Healthy eating in childhood reduces your chance of developing chronic diseases throughout your life.

Did you know that many Australian children still don’t get the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables? Research shows that the day of the week and proximity to fresh food influences children’s daily diet. Overall, eating home-cooked meals and snacks, and packing lunchboxes with fresh fruits and vegetables results in a much higher intake of fresh foods.

Scout WA members learn skills for lifelong good health, including how to manage worry and stress and remain confident, and the effects of a healthy diet, regular exercise and the importance of staying away from unhealthy substances.

Your donation helps us provide accredited, professional training, development and support to our large team of volunteer Leaders who deliver the Youth Development program and mentor our youth.

Scouting provides young West Australian members, of all ages, gender, and ability, access to our action-oriented approach to education, designed to equip youth with the skills to be active citizens and contribute to sustainable development.

Infrastructure through donations, partnership and funding to upgrade facilities for Scouting and the community, strengthens our ability to deliver our Youth Program to the broader community.

Supporting Sustainable Scouting Helps Our WA Community

We live in a changing world and our Scouts WA commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (#Scouts4SDGs) gives our members the opportunity to participate with millions of Scouts globally mobilising as part of the world’s largest coordinated youth contribution to the SDGs. These 17 Sustainable Development Goals aim to achieve outcomes through improved social, economic and environmental sustainability by 2030 and from the launch in 2015, Scouting has been at the forefront of global youth involvement.

We need your support to provide Scouting to more youth in WA!

Scouting offers young people a unique and individual program of adventurous activities. Scouts contribute to their personal growth, provide leadership opportunities, develop resilience, prepare for challenges and to play a constructive role in a global society.

Eating local, seasonal produce helps us work towards several SDG's

Good Health and Wellbeing

In Scouting, good health encompasses understanding one’s body, active care for health, wellbeing
and engaging in physical skills and fitness, as well as diet.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Making cities sustainable means creating career and business opportunities, safe and affordable housing, and building resilient societies and economies.

Responsible Production and Consumption

We can do our part at home and at Scouts. Consuming fewer single-use plastics, recycling and reusing, reducing food waste, and consider buying sustainably-sourced products.

Life on Land

Scouts commit to environmental education and living sustainably with both being important aspects of the Scouting program focused on developing global citizens.

Scouts WA Youth Program

World Scouting has been on the front lines of creating a better world for over a century, doing our bit to address inequality and support a thriving environment. We have an action-oriented approach to education, designed to equip our members with the skills to be active citizens and contribute to sustainable development. The Scouts Movement is focused on young people and helping them become the best versions of themselves.

The purpose of the Scout Movement is to contribute to the education of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Scouting offers youth members, 5-25 yrs, our program of self development and progression – Youth Leading Adult Supporting. Scouts are recognised for the significant benefits to youth that our informal education program provides, including the opportunities to build leadership and resilience skills in a safe, supported environment.

The generosity of our members and donations from small businesses like Margaret River Fresh Produce strengthens Scouts WA’s ability to deliver on every Sustainable Development Goal as we evolve how we influence our communities to take action as well.
