Daring Duo

Established in 2016, the Alkimos Scout Group has made it their mission to inspire youth members to step out of their comfort zones and achieve things that no one before them has!

Keevy McGregor (9) and Isabella Watson (10) were the first Cub Scouts at Alkimos to ever earn a Boomerang Award.

The Boomerang badges are the major milestone of Cub Scout training and aim to develop skills and awareness in responsibility for self, outdoor Scouting, Scouting values and principles, creativity, personal hobbies and interests, and awareness of the Cub Scout’s local and global community.

“I love Cubs because  I have made lots of friends there and it teaches me so many new things. I love earning badges and going on Cub camps,” – Keevy

Isabella has since gone on to achieve the Grey Wolf Award. This is the pinnacle of achievement in the Cub Scout Section.

To earn the Grey Wolf Award a Cub Scout must hold a Gold Boomerang badge, have  participated in a minimum of four outdoor activities and attended two Pack Councils in the previous 12 months, complete four Level 2

Achievement badges and one Special Interest badge, and develop and present a resource for the Six or Pack based on the Cub Scout’s understanding of The Jungle Book.

Next year Isabella will link to the Scout Section and hopes to continue building her skill set and being a leader within her community.
