Mullaloo Sea Scout Group

This year, to recognize Remembrance Day, Mullaloo Sea Scout Group teamed up with Mullaloo Beach Primary School and collected poppy donations from our generous Mullaloo community.

Together we raised $342 to support returned service personnel.

Donation

We welcomed Vince from Joondalup City RSL Sub-branch to our meeting, where he talked with everyone about the meaning of Remembrance Day and the symbolism of poppies.

Vince also gifted us a copy of “Next Door’s Dog is a Veteran’s Dog” that we donated to the Mullalloo Beach Primary School library.

Mullaloo Sea Scout Group

A huge THANK YOU to Kiwi, Pelican, Derien and Johnny for traveling all the way up to Hillarys to share their stand up paddle board skills with our Scouts.

We had a beautiful morning for it and got off the water just as the seas breeze kicked in. The paddle team was fantastic, and it was great to have access to all the required gear – I think a few members now have a SUP on their Christmas wish-list!

Community Pantry

Margaret River Scout Group

A mixed group of Scouts, Cubs and Joeys Scouts had a great trip to the Community Pantry.

We learnt how food is donated and redistributed to people and families in our community who need that extra bit of help. Donated food is bagged up and available every Friday from 10am to 1pm.

Their motto is “take what you need, give what you can.” Our Scouts are keen to be involved in collecting goods and promoting the Pantry – we took a donation bin with us to put in our hall as it will be great to help any way we can with this wonderful community venture.

Campfire Night

Canning Sea Scout Group

A Camp for our Cub and Joey Scouts ended with an amazing campfire, games and a movie after an early dinner.

The Cub Scouts started their day early with a short hike (3 km) then the Joey Scouts joined them for a short paddle, lunch and catapult construction (thanks to our three Scouts who were on hand to provide some guidance and instruction on knots).

Fundraising

Manjimup Scout Group

The Manjimup Scout Group has an Eclipse Camp fundraising group at this year’s Cherry festival on Saturday 10th of December.

We would love more volunteer helpers for our stall from 9-3pm selling cherries, icey-poles and drinks. Plus we need extra hand to assist with set up and takedown for the gazebo set: 2 shifts, 1@ 6am and the other @4pm.

When posting your story or update on social media, there are a few simple guidelines that will help improve your groups visibility and post engagement.

Stop people scrolling past your post by starting it with the heading and introducing your announcement: eg: Scouts WA | Christmas hours or Venturer Scouts | SAIT Accreditation
When mentioning Sections, use Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts to describe youth members. This helps search engines understand who you are and what you do.
Tag special guests, donors, local businesses, events or supporters if they’re involved. This notifies them you’ve mentioned their name or event and will increase the likelihood of your group’s post being shared with others. Use the @ symbol followed by their name to tag them.
For shareable posts, make your images identifiable. Brand photos with the Scouts WA logo and your group details if possible. There are a number of programs (like Canva) that help format your images and the Scouts Australia Brand Centre has a range of updated resources for your use.
Tag Scouts WA and any other sections applicable to your post so we can all work to share and amplify your messages. By working together, we can increase the reach of our posts and improve the interaction and recognition of all Scout Groups in WA.
