AJ2022 – 26th Australian Jamboree

Every three years, Scouts have the opportunity to attend an Australian Jamboree where they join 10,000 other young people from around Australia and across the world for a 10 day camp. The next Australian Jamboree will be held at Elmore Events Centre, hosted by Scouts Victoria from 3 January to 13 January 2022.

Your Jamboree adventure

Attending a Jamboree is the ultimate experience for any Aussie Scout. Imagine spending 10 days enjoying the very best Scouting has to offer: awesome activities, new challenges, and endless opportunities to make friends for life.

The Jamboree site is a small city. There is everything you could possibly need, including stages, activity zones, a marketplace, campsites, entertainment, a medical centre and a transport hub. The Jamboree even has its own radio and TV stations! Now imagine the possibilities when you fill that space with 10,000 Scouts – the perfect ingredients to make friends for life!

Then there’s your Jamboree Unit. These 36 Scouts, together with your Troop Leaders, will undoubtedly help you to take it to the next level. They’ll be there to support and guide you on this journey of a lifetime.

There are activities galore to keep you busy right from day one. As well as onsite activities, you’ll choose an expedition to tackle in the local region, and spend a day trying all the water activities you can possibly dream up. Here’s just some of the activities you might experience at AJ2022:

  • Go karting
  • Junkyard
  • Circus training
  • Discos
  • Flying and gliding
  • Flying fox
  • Live comedy
  • Water activities
  • Bike riding
  • Water slides
  • Slushies
  • Laser tag
  • Geocaching
  • Abseiling
  • Market day
  • Concerts
  • Nerf wars
  • High ropes

The Jamboree is amazing fun, but it is also an experience that will develop your teamwork, leadership, resilience and social skills that will set you up for life. It’s learning the Scouting way – learning by doing.

A Jamboree provides a safe, structured environment for you to challenge yourself to try new adventures, develop social skills outside your normal peer groups and gain new skills working together over 10 days.

Join the team – Jambassadors

We’re searching for current youth members who have attended an Australian Jamboree who’d like to share AJ stories across Western Australia!

As a Jambassador, you’ll join team of Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts. Together, you’ll promote AJ2022 by sharing your own Jamboree experiences at events and roadshow presentations.

In this role, you’ll gain experience in public speaking, develop your confidence, and meet new people from across Western Australia. Plus, you’ll even receive a limited-edition AJ shirt and name badge!

Become a Jambassador to help us build the best WA Contingent yet!

View the position description here.

To become a Jambassador, email the Contingent Leader at cl.jamboree@scoutswa.com.au outlining your skills and personal attributes that will help you succeed as a Jambassador.

Cost

Jamboree fees have been finalised at $2,450 for Scouts and $1,485 for all other participants. The fees have been kept at the same level as the last Jamboree – in fact, the fee for Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and other adults is $200 cheaper!

The fees are fully inclusive of the following items:

  • Eleven days “Taking it to the Next Level” meeting new friends and participating in activities, both on-site and off-site.
  • All meals and accomodation for the duration of the Jamboree.
  • Meals, accomodation and activities for the Pre-Jamboree Camp on 25-27 September 2021.
  • Personal travel insurance to cover personal equipment loss or damage.
  • Transport of camping equipment between Western Australia and the Jamboree site.
  • Welfare support for the duration of the Jamboree.
  • Return travel to the Jamboree site from an airport in Western Australia. Some regional travel to Perth Airport for the onward flight to Melbourne may be via road coach.
  • Jamboree merchandise including a shirt, hat, scarf, badge.
  • Contingent merchandise including a shirt, Western Australia state scarf, contingent badge, unit badges and drink bottle.

Jamboree is an expensive adventure, so you need to start your fundraising early. Chances are you’ll find it heaps easier to join forces with your Scout mates headed for AJ2022 – it’s a lot easier to fundraise if you are supporting each other, swapping ideas and keeping each other on track.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Bunnings BBQs
  • Chocolates
  • Sell Christmas trees
  • Phone book deliveries
  • Raffle a trailer of firewood
  • Car wash
  • Flyer deliveries for local businesses
  • Garage/Car boot sale
  • Trivia night

COVID-19 Considerations

The Contingent Support Team, together with the Jamboree Organising Committee in Victoria, are determined to deliver a Jamboree, should it be safe to do so. Planning is full steam ahead getting ready for AJ2022.

The situation with COVID-19 is rapidly evolving. Like everyone, we’re keeping an eye on developments and as January 2022 approaches, we’ll have a better understanding of how AJ2022 will look.

We won’t ask you to make a decision about attending the Jamboree, or pay any of the event fees, until we have a better understanding of whether we will be able to run the Jamboree in January 2022. We’ll provide further updates through our usual communication channels before formal applications go live.

Right now, we want Scout Units across Western Australia to be planning to attend AJ2022 and continue their fundraising efforts so they can Take it to the Next Level at the 26th Australian Scout Jamboree!
