Scouts WA is seeking passionate and capable volunteers to take on Group Leader and District Commissioner appointments across Western Australia. 

These leadership roles are at the heart of Scouting. They provide the guidance, support and leadership that enables young people to enjoy safe, engaging and adventurous Scouting experiences while supporting adult volunteers to succeed in their roles. 

Whether you enjoy leading a local Scout Group or supporting several Groups across a District, these appointments offer an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community while developing your own leadership skills.

Available Positions

Group Leader – Cape Naturaliste, Cottesloe, Denmark, Eastern Hills, & Mosman Bay Scout Groups

Lead your local Scout Group and help create an environment where young people and volunteers can thrive. 

Group Leaders provide leadership and coordination within a Scout Group, supporting Youth Program Leaders, Group Support Committees and families to deliver quality Scouting. They help build positive volunteer teams, encourage leadership development, and ensure the Group operates safely and sustainably. 

Key Focus Areas: 

  • Supporting and developing volunteer Leaders 
  • Building a positive and inclusive Group culture 
  • Working with the Group Support Committee 
  • Membership growth and volunteer recruitment 
  • Governance, compliance and risk management 
  • Supporting quality youth program delivery 
District Commissioner – Beeloo, Joondalup, Melville, Osprey & Pilbara Districts

Support Scout Groups to grow, succeed and deliver outstanding Scouting across your District. 

District Commissioners provide leadership, mentoring and operational support to Group Leaders and volunteer teams. They work collaboratively with Regional Commissioners to strengthen Scout Groups, develop adult volunteers, and ensure every Group has the support it needs to provide great Scouting experiences.

  • Coaching and supporting Group Leaders 
  • Volunteer development and succession planning 
  • Strengthening Scout Groups 
  • Membership growth and sustainability 
  • Governance, compliance and operational support 
  • Building collaboration across the District

You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role. 

We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
