Meet our Executive Leadership Team
The Executive Leadership Team (or ELT) comprises people from a range of vocational backgrounds. The ELT hold positions that providing direction and support to our members.
Gavin leads Scouts WA as Chief Commissioner, providing strategic leadership and oversight across the organisation. He supports senior volunteer leaders, strengthens governance and drives the Scouts WA Strategic Plan. A lifelong Scout, Gavin has progressed from Cub Scout to senior roles, including Regional Chief Commissioner and Group Leader at Bibra Lake. He has received the Queen’s Scout Award, Baden-Powell Scout Award and Silver Koala. Gavin brings project management experience and strengths in governance, planning and stakeholder engagement.
Jane serves as Deputy Chief Commissioner, providing operational oversight, leadership and strategic support across Scouts WA. She supports senior volunteer leaders and helps deliver the Scouts WA Strategic Plan. Jane brings over 15 years of leadership experience, with strengths in volunteer management, strategic planning, community engagement and statewide initiatives. She holds qualifications in human resources, leadership, project management and training, and is passionate about empowering teams and creating inclusive, purpose-led programs.
Jack leads the Marketing and Communications portfolio, promoting Scouts WA’s vision, strengthening its public profile and improving member communication. He brings over five years of experience in events, marketing, stakeholder engagement, branding and communications. Since joining Scouting in 2006, Jack has progressed from Cub Scout to Branch Commissioner and holds qualifications in event management, leadership, business, volunteer programs and visual arts.
Dan leads the Integrity & Governance portfolio, providing strategic governance leadership, advice and organisational assurance across Scouts WA. His Scouting journey began as a youth member at age 11 in Venezuela, where he achieved the Scout de Bolívar award (Peak Award) before progressing through Rover Scouts and becoming a Scout Leader while at university. Dan brings over 15 years of leadership experience, with a focus on driving policy compliance, improving processes and implementing procedures to ensure a productive and safe work environment.
Jack leads the Support Services portfolio, overseeing governance, systems, human resources, technology and logistics across Scouts WA. He brings professional experience in compliance, decision-making and quality assurance within the Australian Public Service, along with Scouting leadership experience at Group and District level. Known for his measured approach and clear communication, Jack turns complex requirements into practical outcomes that strengthen systems and support volunteers.
Jason leads the Learning & Development portfolio, coordinating adult training and development across Scouts WA to ensure Adults in Scouting are trained, supported and equipped to deliver quality experiences. He brings extensive management experience across the Federal Government and Australian Defence Force, with over 25 years in Scouts Australia leadership roles, including major events, leadership teams, contingents, projects and volunteer support.
Peta leads the Safety, Environment and Wellbeing portfolio, supporting child safety, wellbeing, inclusion, sustainability and organisational culture across Scouts WA. She brings experience across local government, not-for-profit and volunteer sectors, with strengths in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, workforce development and governance. With over six years in Scouting, Peta has led statewide inclusion initiatives, developed resources and training, and supported safe, inclusive environments.
Sharni leads the Program Support portfolio, guiding the youth program across Scouts WA to deliver quality Scouting experiences. She supports Adventurous, Fun, Challenging and Inclusive programs that help young people grow and thrive. Sharni brings over 20 years of Scouting experience as a youth and adult member, including roles as Cub Scout Leader, Venturer Scout Leader, Group Leader, Branch Advisor and Adventurous Activities Team Leader. With practical program experience, she works with leaders to expand opportunities for young people across Western Australia.
Oliver leads the Youth Empowerment portfolio, championing youth voice, engagement and leadership across Scouts WA. He ensures young people are involved in decision-making, program development and leadership at all levels. Oliver brings 12 years of Scouting experience, beginning as a Joey Scout, and holds qualifications in Leadership and Management and Active Volunteering. He has served on the Section Support Team and believes in the educational value of Scouting, empowering young people through adventure, leadership and community involvement.
Danelle leads the Operations portfolio, providing leadership, strategic direction and oversight to support Scouting across Western Australia. She brings over 20 years of event management experience and 11 years in local government community development, with strengths in volunteer capacity, governance and local partnerships. Since joining Scouting in 2010, Danelle has held leadership roles across regional and metropolitan WA and is passionate about empowering volunteers and strengthening support structures.
Dougal serves as Executive Manager, leading the Scouts WA Head Office team and supporting operations across the organisation. He brings over 10 years of senior management experience across Scouting in three states and Scouts Australia, advising the Executive Leadership Team across multiple portfolios. With more than 20 years in senior Branch and National volunteer roles, Dougal understands the value of volunteers and is committed to providing the support, systems and expertise Scouts WA needs to succeed.
