Help create a safer and stronger Scouting experience for thousands of young people and volunteers across Western Australia. This leadership role guides Scouts WA’s approach to child safety, risk management, and organisational safety, ensuring volunteers have the support and resources they need to deliver great programs with confidence.
Working with leaders, volunteers, and specialist advisors from across Scouts WA, you will provide direction, guidance, and practical support on safety and risk matters. You will lead a team focused on child safety and risk management while helping build capability across the organisation.
This is an opportunity to make a significant impact by promoting a strong safety culture, supporting volunteers to manage risks effectively, and helping ensure Scouting remains a safe, inclusive, and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Why This Role Matters
Safety is fundamental to delivering quality Scouting experiences. This role helps protect young people and volunteers, strengthens organisational practices, supports compliance requirements, and ensures leaders have the knowledge and resources needed to deliver activities safely and confidently.
Key Focus Areas:
- Lead the Child Safety and Risk Management portfolio and support the volunteers delivering specialist advice and support.
- Promote a strong child-safe culture and support the implementation of child safety policies, standards, and practices.
- Provide guidance and support on risk management, risk assessments, and safe event delivery across Scouts WA.
- Develop and deliver training, resources, and tools that strengthen safety awareness and risk management capability.
- Work with stakeholders across Scouts WA to identify trends, improve systems, and drive continuous improvement in safety and risk management.
We Encourage You to Apply
We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you tick every box. Research consistently shows that people often rule themselves out of opportunities because they don’t meet every listed criterion. Scouts WA is looking for enthusiastic, capable people who are willing to learn, contribute and grow. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support, and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role.
We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
