Help make Scouting more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone. This leadership role focuses on identifying and reducing barriers that may prevent young people, volunteers, and families from participating fully in Scouting, ensuring more people can access the benefits of the Scout Program.
Working with leaders, volunteers, families, community organisations, and inclusion specialists, you will provide leadership and guidance on accessibility across Scouts WA. You will help create practical solutions, support inclusive practices, and ensure accessibility is considered in programs, events, facilities, and volunteer experiences.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping create a culture of belonging where people from all backgrounds and abilities feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to participate in Scouting.
Why This Role Matters
Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in Scouting. This role helps remove barriers, improve accessibility, and promote inclusion so that more young people, volunteers, and families can take part in meaningful Scouting experiences and feel a genuine sense of belonging.
Key Focus Areas:
- Lead Scouts WA’s accessibility initiatives and provide guidance on reducing barriers to participation.
- Support Groups, Districts, and Regions to identify accessibility challenges and implement practical, inclusive solutions.
- Develop and deliver training, resources, and awareness programs that build confidence in accessible and inclusive practices.
- Support accessible events, activities, facilities, and programs that enable participation for a diverse range of members.
- Build partnerships with community organisations, identify funding opportunities, and promote continuous improvement in accessibility across Scouts WA.
We Encourage You to Apply
We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you tick every box. Research consistently shows that people often rule themselves out of opportunities because they don’t meet every listed criterion. Scouts WA is looking for enthusiastic, capable people who are willing to learn, contribute and grow. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support, and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role.
We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
