Help strengthen connections between Scouts WA and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role supports cultural understanding, inclusion, and reconciliation across the organisation, helping create a welcoming environment where all young people, volunteers, and families feel respected and valued.

Working with leaders, volunteers, community organisations, Elders, and cultural stakeholders, you will provide guidance, support cultural learning opportunities, and help build meaningful relationships that enrich the Scouting experience for everyone.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by promoting cultural awareness, supporting reconciliation initiatives, and helping Scouts WA create stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Western Australia.

Why This Role Matters

Scouting is strongest when everyone feels they belong. This role helps build cultural understanding, strengthen community relationships, and support reconciliation, ensuring Scouts WA provides inclusive and respectful opportunities for young people, volunteers, and families from all backgrounds.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Provide advice and guidance to leaders and volunteers on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement, cultural understanding, and inclusive practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, Elders, and community leaders.
  • Develop and deliver cultural education, awareness activities, and resources that strengthen understanding across Scouts WA.
  • Support reconciliation initiatives, including activities associated with National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
  • Assist Groups, Districts, and Regions to create culturally safe environments and identify opportunities to increase participation in Scouting.

We Encourage You to Apply

We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you tick every box. Research consistently shows that people often rule themselves out of opportunities because they don’t meet every listed criterion. Scouts WA is looking for enthusiastic, capable people who are willing to learn, contribute and grow. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support, and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role.

We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
