Scouts WA is seeking a volunteer to join our team as Assistant Regional Commissioner for the Perth North and Perth South region.

Develop your leadership skills while helping shape the future of Scouting across your Region. This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced leaders, support Scout Groups and Districts, and gain valuable experience in regional leadership and decision-making.

Working closely with the Regional Commissioner, District Commissioners, and Group Leaders, you will provide mentoring, guidance, and practical support to help strengthen Scouting across the Region. You will assist with leadership development, help solve challenges, and support the growth and sustainability of local Scout Groups.

This role is designed to develop the next generation of senior volunteer leaders within Scouts WA while making a meaningful contribution to the success of volunteers and young people throughout the Region.

Why This Role Matters

Strong regional leadership helps Scout Groups and Districts succeed. This role provides support, mentorship, and leadership development across the Region, helping build capable volunteer teams, strengthen local Scouting, and ensure young people continue to benefit from high-quality Scouting experiences.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Support and mentor District Commissioners in the delivery of safe, sustainable, and effective Scouting.
  • Assist Scout Groups and Districts to address challenges, identify opportunities, and achieve their goals.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, and development of volunteer leaders across the Region.
  • Help strengthen collaboration, communication, and the sharing of good practice between Districts and Groups.
  • Act on behalf of the Regional Commissioner or fill District Commissioner vacancies when required to ensure continuity of leadership and support.

We Encourage You to Apply

We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you tick every box. Research consistently shows that people often rule themselves out of opportunities because they don’t meet every listed criterion. Scouts WA is looking for enthusiastic, capable people who are willing to learn, contribute and grow. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support, and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role.

We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
