Scouts WA is looking for District Commissioners for Beeloo, Canning River, Joondalup, Melville and Pilbara Districts.

Lead and support Scout Groups across your local area, helping volunteers deliver outstanding experiences for young people. As the senior volunteer leader within the District, you will work closely with Group Leaders to build strong, sustainable Scout Groups that can thrive now and into the future.

Working alongside Group Leaders, volunteers, Regional leadership, and community stakeholders, you will provide guidance, mentoring, and support to help Groups grow, overcome challenges, and deliver safe, high-quality Scouting programs.

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact across multiple Scout Groups by developing leaders, supporting community connections, strengthening local Scouting, and helping more young people benefit from the Scout Program.

Why This Role Matters

Strong District leadership helps Scout Groups succeed. This role supports volunteers, strengthens local Scouting, promotes sustainable growth, and ensures young people across the District have access to safe, engaging, and high-quality Scouting experiences.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Support and mentor Group Leaders and volunteer teams across the District.
  • Develop and implement plans that support the growth, sustainability, and success of Scout Groups.
  • Recruit, develop, and support adult volunteers while encouraging leadership development and succession planning.
  • Promote safe, compliant, and high-quality Youth Program delivery across all Groups.
  • Build relationships within the community and strengthen the visibility and impact of Scouting locally.

We Encourage You to Apply

We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t think you tick every box. Research consistently shows that people often rule themselves out of opportunities because they don’t meet every listed criterion. Scouts WA is looking for enthusiastic, capable people who are willing to learn, contribute and grow. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive guidance, support, and opportunities to build your skills and grow in the role.

We are looking for people with the right attitude and strong organisational skills. Professional experience is welcome, but practical skills developed through work, volunteering or personal projects are also valuable.
