DESCRIPTION:This is a two-day expedition up the Canning River from Waylen Bay Scout Hall in Applecross to Royal St\, Kenwick. \nYou will carry all your camping gear and food in your canoes. You will camp overnight at Canning Scout Hall. \nYou will be paddling approx. 10km each day. Some canoeing experience is advised; this is not an event for people who have never paddled before. \nThe Scouts WA Paddle Team will supply Qualified Activity Leaders for the event. DESCRIPTION:Please note: This course is being held at Eaton Camp\, not Manjedal.\nScouting Leadership training builds upon the skills and knowledge gained during previous training and provides the opportunity to apply this learning in a practical environment. T\nhe Scouting Leadership training consists of:\nOn-Demand Learning\nOn-the-Job Learning\nA face-to-face Scouting Leadership course\nA project \nAs part of the course\, participants will initiate a project of approximately 10 hours\, developed with a specific aim and clear goals for achievement. This project leverages the learning gained during the Scouting Leadership course. \nUpon completion of the project\, this will be reviewed by their Team Leader (typically their GL). Participants will submit their Leadership On-the-Job Statement after project completion. This will typically be reviewed by the participant’s Next Up Team Leader. Following this review\, the Next-Up Team Leader (usually the District Commissioner or Regional Commissioner\, if they hold a Wood Badge) will approve the submission as the final Wood Badge Evaluation step\, in line with National Adult Training and Development Policies. \nUpon successful completion of the Scouting Leadership training\, including project completion and On-the-Job Statement approval\, leaders will receive:\nThe Wood Badge (wooden beads)\nA Parchment\nThe Gilwell Scarf (signifying international membership in the 1st Gilwell Park Scout Group) \nif you would like to request assistance for Regional Travel or Fuel Reimbursement for Regional Members please ensure that you submit the updated TR2 form to training@scoutswa.com.au before the Course Registration Close to be eligible.\nThe TR2 form and process can be found here: https://scoutswa.com.au/youth-program/adult-training-and-development/. \nPlease register through ScoutMap using the link Reservation: R-002514 \nFor assistance with ScoutMap please see the Handbook. \nFor further assistance please lodge a support ticket through ScoutMap or email events@scoutswa.com.au supplying information on the person registering and error or problem preventing registration.  Please note that ScoutMap support tickets are the preferred method of contact and will be responded to as a priority and that assistance will be provided to support you in completing your registration rather than completing registrations on your behalf.

SUMMARY:Swanabout 2026
DESCRIPTION:Swanabout is the annual 30-hour marathon sailing event operated by the Scouts WA Boating Council\, for all Scouts in Western Australia. Vessels ranging in size from 1-person dinghies to 30’ keelboats sail three courses: a western short-course Waller Base > Mosman Base > Waller Base; an eastern short-course Pelican Base > Como Base > Heathcote Base > Pelican Base; and a long course Pelican Base > Como Base > Heathcote Base > Waller Base > Mosman Base > Pelican Base. \nScoring is derived from the distance sailed by each Vessel\, over the course of the 30-hour Event window\, where distance sailed is determined by a prescribed ‘voyage length’ for each voyage in the Event courses\, rather than the actual distance sailed by each Vessel. \nSwanabout is primarily a competition for and between Youth Members\, and is meant to provide an exciting on-water challenge. Swanabout is not intended to be an experiential activity for unqualified Youth Members. As such\, direct Leader supervision is kept to a minimum and Youth Members seeking to participate in the event must have already met minimum boating qualifications and experience. \nRegistrations will be in ScoutMap. \nPlease email events@scoutswa.com.au if you have any issues registering.
