You might be lost or injured on a 6 hour bushwalk\, and you need to spend the night. Perhaps you fell in a river and lost the contents of your pack and you are several kilometers down river with no map\, no tents and no matches. You need a fire and shelter. SUMMARY:44th Battalion Memorial Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:***PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL BE RECORDED AND TELEVISED*** \nThe 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial Inc. invites Scouts\, Venturers\, and supervising Adult Members to volunteer at a commemorative ceremony on the 23rd of November 2024 at the Perth War Cemetary in Nedlands. \nThe organisation and its director\, Luca Muir Anderson\, are requesting help between 10:30am – 12:30pm to carry and lay portraits\, names and banners of the soldiers. \nScouts and Venturers will be required to wear their full uniform. They are to arrive at 10:30am for an 11am start. Parents are asked to drop off & pick up their children (transport will not be provided). \nThe ceremony is a massive undertaking and will be running from dawn (0500) until dusk (1900) with The Governor of Western Australia and members of the Royal Australian Navy\, Australian Army\, WA Fire and Emergency Services\, Australian Air Force Cadets and Australian Army Cadets taking part\, amongst other units. \nThis is the first time that the 44th Battalion is being specifically commemorated with its own ceremony in many years. \nYou can find out more about them on their website: 44battalionmemorial.com \nRegister through ScoutMap HERE. DESCRIPTION:Swan Descent is a one-day paddling expedition staring at Middle Swan Reserve in Middle Swan and finishing at Fishmarket Reserve in Guildford covering a distance of around 8km.\nThis event is perfect for groups who have done some paddling already and want to expand their skills with a longer paddle.\nIt is open to all Scouts\, Venturers and Rovers. Even if you don’t have qualified activity leaders in your group\, as the WA Scouts AA Paddling Council will provide on water leaders. \nTime: 8:30am – 3pm \nThis event will aslo count as a PD for any Leaders working on a Canoeing qualification. \nRegistrations close March 6th.
