DESCRIPTION:Safe Participant (SP) Course – Canoe \nThis is a one-day introduction to canoeing. You will learn basic skills and rescue techniques. \nThis course is self-catered. Participants will need to bring food as if they were hiking. \nPre-requisites for this course are:\n– Compliant member of Scouts WA (this means holding a valid WWCC and Police Clearance\, and all mandatory modules in-date)\n– Hold current first aid certificate\n– Logbook with at least 2 paddling activities entered\, these don’t have to be Scouting activities – any paddling counts but you do have to be in the craft type you are going for the qualification in eg- 2 canoeing activities\n– Completion of on-demand e-learning modules (These are the Level 1 Common Core set\, and the Level 1 Canoeing/Kayaking set) Modules can be accessed through training.scouts.com.au \nRegistrations close 4pm 24th August\, or when the course has reached capacity. DESCRIPTION:Patrol-Alone Style Cooking & Camping Competition \nPatrols are required to plan their own program & menu for the weekend. \nPatrols can choose to do a Facilitated Activity if they wish. If so\, select registration Type 1.\nIf your patrol does not wish to plan a Facilitated Activity into your program\, select registration Type 2.\n**all members of your patrol MUST register as the same participant type** \nThere are two participant registration types: \n1. (Scout or Venturer) Participant incl. Facilitated Activity ($50)\nPatrols can choose from the following options:\n• Archery\n• Climbing Wall\n• High Ropes\n• Mountain Biking\nWhen registering for this participant type\, include preferred activity in team name (team name example: The Bushrangers – archery) \n2. DESCRIPTION:This is a two-day expedition up the Canning River from the Waylen Bay Sea Scout Hall in Applecross to Royal St\, Kenwick. \nYou will carry all your camping gear and food in your canoes. You will camp overnight at the Canning Sea Scout Hall. \nYou will be paddling approx. 10km each day. Some canoeing experience is advised; this is not an event for people who have never paddled before. \nThe Scouts WA Paddle Team will supply Qualified Activity Leaders for the event. DESCRIPTION:Eligibility – Scouts\, Venturer Scouts\, Rover Scouts\nMax numbers – 10 participants (minimum of 4 participants required) \nLearn to exit and re-enter Kayak\, roll a Kayak with a paddle\, roll a Kayak without a paddle. \nThe Activity will begin with a briefing and end with a review. Participants are required to wear a rashie and boardies. \nCost: Entry fee to pool – $7.20\, participants MUST visit the Aquatic Office to pay gate entry before they enter the water. Pool staff will cross reference their head count with the number of gate entries taken each session. \nDry adults pool entry is free. \nTo reserve this session for your Unit email events@scoutswa.com.au. DESCRIPTION:Eligibility – Scouts\, Venturer Scouts\, Rover Scouts\nMax numbers – 20 participants (minimum of 4 participants required) \nSkill Stations: Participants move through guided activities such as fitting and clearing masks\, mastering the “blast method” for clearing snorkels\, and practicing efficient finning techniques. \nSafety Training: Instructor lead briefings on water safety\, buddy systems\, and underwater hand signals. \nProvided: masks\, snorkels and fins\, though participants are allowed to bring their own if suitable. \nThe Activity will begin with a briefing and end with a review. Participants are required to wear a rashie and boardies. \nCost: Entry fee to pool – $7.20\, participants MUST visit the Aquatic Office to pay gate entry before they enter the water.
