Adult Recognition Award Recipients

To celebrate World Scout Day, Scouts WA would like to recognise the achievement and contributions to Scouting of Leaders and Supporters who have been awarded Adult Recognition Awards on 1 August 2016

Adult Recognition Awards are made to people who have given valuable service to Scouts Australia over an extended period. Such Awards are granted for sustained commitment to the Association, both within and beyond an adult member’s designated role and responsibilities.

Full guidelines can be found in the Scouts Australia Policy and Rules - R13.5 Scouts Australia Adult Recognition Awards.

The WA Branch Chief Commissioner Barbara de la Hunty want to thank these adults and congratulate them for their dedication and commitment to Scouting on behalf of the many thousands of Scouts, both past and present.

Improvement Work Continues at MAC

The Fire Team are busy with the burning program and working on the new Fire Truck. Jon Sayer and Alex Needham have volunteered their time for the past week to help sort out plumbing issues and general maintenance items with an audit of electricals being done by electrical contractors. The water lines, valves and fire truck water access points are being upgraded and mapped out thanks to Darren Simpson. Greg Barbera has been improving Archery, Laser Tag and installing new posts for the MAC points. Derek Sandqvist continues to keep the roads in top shape whilst he and Nicolle Ewing are making improvements to High Ropes and the Aerial runway.  Nicolle is also busy making sure as many adventurous activities are on offer to Groups as possible. The MAC Manager would like to thank Llew Withers, Colin Dunn and David Belcastro for their assistance with septic tank work, the water lines and treatment systems.  These are essential to ensure well ordered ablutions and safe drinking water! We also have our ever reliable caretaker, Simon manning the office phones this week, when not reorganising the workshop. Click here to see some photos of the progress.

We thank all Scout Groups who continue to support MAC. Without the patronage of the Groups, Scouts WA would not have the ability to continue its upgrade program.  We are always looking for volunteers to assist! If you have any skills which you could volunteer to MAC we would love to hear from you. Please contact the MAC Manager on 08 9443 3568 or email macmanager@scoutswa.com.au.

A Message from Our New Chief Commissioner

Thank You Larry!

“It was my privilege to have been present to see our Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia Chris Bates saying thank you to our outgoing Chief Commissioner of Scouts WA, Larry Lucas.

Larry has accomplished huge things as Chief for Scouts WA and will be a very hard act to follow. I just hope I can build on the legacy of the transformative work he has done, especially over the last six years.

He has been an empowering and inspiring Chief Commissioner and I would not have had the courage to tackle this role without his support and encouragement. He has set such an example for us all by his hard work, passion for Scouting, and total fearlessness when it comes to innovative thinking and action.”

Barbara de la Hunty

Chief Commissioner Scouts WA
